Ok, so I’m not usually a kitchen gadget kind of gal but I feel compelled to spread the word about just how amazing my new soup maker is. Mom & I had loosely been chatting about the soup maker she recently bought herself…when unexpectedly a shiny new Morphy Richards Soup & Smoothie Maker arrived in the post (thanks Mama)!
Now I’m a big fan of homemade soup, it’s super nutritious, can be low in calories and is relatively cheap to make. But I’m always put off by how long it takes to cook and the huge amount of mess it generates.
Also I’m usually left with a massive portion and have to rummage to the back of the plastics cupboard to find enough containers to store it in. So I was definitely up for trying out this new toy…
After unpacking what to me looked like a large kettle with a tiny blade, I had my suspicions. How on earth was this machine going to produce soup in 21 minutes!?
Yes you read that correctly, 21 minutes! So I was fully preparing myself to have to get out my hand blender to finish the job.
I followed the instructions for a basic vegetable soup and just like magic I opened the lid to perfectly cooked and blended soup!
Honestly, I was in total shock. And much to my disappointment I was the only one at home so had no one to share this super exciting news with…I know I don’t get out much!
This is what you need:
- 700 grams of diced veg (I cheated and bought the supermarket prepared packets)
- Salt & pepper
Pop it all in the jug, filling up to the max mark.
Stick the lid on, plug in the power and select the smooth setting.
And just like magic this is what it looks like when you lift the lid after 21 minutes…
Isn’t that amazing!? Not only was it cooked and super smooth, its really the best soup I’ve ever eaten!
One thing to note is the Morphy Richards Soup & Smoothie Maker has a warning beep before its about to blend. It’s quite loud so don’t freak out the first time like I did!
It makes 4 generous portions. I’ve been using these storage bags to freeze portions.
I bought a pack of 20 size 0.5ltr on Amazon for £4.99.
And the best part is you simply have to rinse the jug and lid unit in warm soapy water and you are done (be careful not to get water in the electric bits).
I’ve only had my Morphy Richards Soup & Smoothie Maker a few weeks and so far have only attempted the basic vegetable soup on the smooth setting but hope to try something a little more adventurous soon.
At the moment you can buy the Morphy Richards Soup & Smoothie Maker on Amazon for £49.
I think its totally worth it for fast yummy food.
See you just now!
